The Interlude Studio is an energy-efficient artist workspace designed for the Interlude Residency, a program dedicated to serving parent artists re-entering the creative workforce. 

The studio features a simple, open floor plan for both creating and exhibiting art. The loft above has a dedicated office desk for computer work. The studio is positioned to take advantage of the panoramic views through the large glider windows.

The building utilizes a highly insulated foundation system, including specialized trusses, to optimize energy efficiency. Heating and cooling is provided by mini-split heat pumps, creating a comfortable environment throughout all seasons.

This functional studio space allows parent artists to create on-site while staying close to their families in the main house. Meanwhile, their kids can explore their creativity in a sweet, miniature replica of the studio just steps away.

The Interlude Studio was designed as a sustainable, versatile workspace that enhances the broader residency experience. Its layout and features are intentionally aligned with the residency’s ethos, creating a harmonious connection between the artists’ work, their families and the beauty of the surrounding environment.
