Casa Tropicale

Design Director Andrew Personette and the CB Design team transformed this quaint 1956 Vero Beach bungalow into a stunning modern retreat while paying homage to its original character. What began as a humble 2-bedroom, 1-bath beach cottage is now a vibrant mid-century oasis, complete with a bean shaped pool, brand-new guest suite and a jungle garden with not one, but three Traveller’s Palms.

The new design preserved the home’s classic 1956 bones, including its terrazzo floors, while making exciting updates. A screened porch was reimagined as a light-filled lounge and dining room. The dining area was expanded, and the entire roof span was raised to accommodate two floor-to-ceiling, 3-panel hurricane-rated sliding doors, perfectly bridging indoor living and outdoor living.

The kitchen underwent a complete transformation, featuring an oversized peninsula that opens up to the dining room and offers uninterrupted views all the way to the pool, replacing the wall that once enclosed the space.

The primary bedroom received a luxurious upgrade with the addition of a hotel-inspired bathroom divided into three distinct areas: a shower, a vanity, and a private toilet room. Another large, impact-rated 3-panel sliding door connects the bedroom to the outdoors, filling the space with natural light and lush greenery.

The addition of iconic mid-century design details, like breeze blocks and a touch of retro glamour, transformed the once cottagecore bungalow into a stylish getaway.

The result is a home that masterfully balances timeless charm with modern comfort, creating the perfect escape for a relaxed Florida lifestyle. Casa Tropicale is a groovy example of CB Design’s tropical vision, where past and present come together beautifully.
